FORLI'S CON MAN steadied from tight quarters in the early going, moved up to stalk the pace, drew even leaving the backstretch, then vied with TREMONT LIGHT to nearing the eighth pole and edged away. HOT FINANCE reserved early, angled out for the stretch run and rallied to gain the place. JO JO BEAN tracked the pace, was caught in tight soon after entering the far turn, angled out four wide and closed to be up for the show. ZIMBALI rated off the pace, saved ground throughout and closed with a mild response. TREMONT LIGHT set the pace along the inside, responded when challenged leaving the backstretch, then weakened in the final eighth. LIZ'S BANDIT allowed to settle, made a run three wide to reach near even terms for command entering the far turn, then tired. GOLD BANKERS GOLD was never a factor. |

LOVE YOUR WHIT showed speed along the rail, was outmoved racing into the far turn, came on again and split rivals to gain the lead inside the eighth pole, then was fully extended to hold off FRED N ANNIE. The latter, unhurried while saving ground, steadied to avoid running up on rivals on the far turn, angled to the outside for the stretch run and gaining on the winner at the finish. ETERNAL TUNE tracked the pace, eased outside the leaders for the stretch run and lacked a late response. AWE showed speed outside LOVE YOUR WHIT, responded when challenged by R. CORIZON DE LEON racing down the backstretch, moved to the inside while vying with that rival around the far turn and into the stretch, then weakened late. R. CORIZON DE LEON advanced along the outside down the backstretch to reach even terms for command, vied for the lead outside AWE into the stretch and tired. AMZAC raced in striking position into the far turn and faltered. DOUBLE E DOUBLE L was outrun. |

DUSTYS BIRTHDAY reserved early, angled to the outside for the stretch run, rallied to catch ISLAND SKIPPER and was drawing clear when his rider hit that rival with the whip at the seventy yard pole. ISLAND SKIPPER moved up to vie for the lead outside MARCO'S WORD on the backstretch, edged away from that rival in the stretch, then drifted out to DUSTYS BIRTHDAY approaching the sixteenth pole and was being outfinished when hit by that rival's whip on the nose at the seventy yard pole. MARCO'S WORD moved up along the the backstretch to vie for the lead, angled to the inside on the far turn while continuing to contest the pace into the stretch and weakened. R. ASSOCIATE unhurried early, passed tired rivals without threatening. SUPER FROLIC chased the pace, raced three wide on the far turn and tired. SEBASTIAN LIGHT set the pace along the rail, then was steadied from tight quarters entering the far turn and gave way. SHOTGUN FIRE raced three wide and faltered. TAMMANY STAR showed little. PATRIOTIC FLAME was through after a half mile. There was a stewards inquiry and a claim of foul by the rider of ISLAND SKIPPER against the rider of DUSTYS BIRTHDAY for interference with the whip at the seventy yard pole. No action was taken. |
