DUSTYS BIRTHDAY reserved early, angled to the outside for the stretch run, rallied to catch ISLAND SKIPPER and was drawing clear when his rider hit that rival with the whip at the seventy yard pole. ISLAND SKIPPER moved up to vie for the lead outside MARCO'S WORD on the backstretch, edged away from that rival in the stretch, then drifted out to DUSTYS BIRTHDAY approaching the sixteenth pole and was being outfinished when hit by that rival's whip on the nose at the seventy yard pole. MARCO'S WORD moved up along the the backstretch to vie for the lead, angled to the inside on the far turn while continuing to contest the pace into the stretch and weakened. R. ASSOCIATE unhurried early, passed tired rivals without threatening. SUPER FROLIC chased the pace, raced three wide on the far turn and tired. SEBASTIAN LIGHT set the pace along the rail, then was steadied from tight quarters entering the far turn and gave way. SHOTGUN FIRE raced three wide and faltered. TAMMANY STAR showed little. PATRIOTIC FLAME was through after a half mile.
