SWEET STEPPER took the early lead a bit off the rail, angled in on the first turn and set the pace inside, inched away again on the second turn, drifted out through the final furlong but held gamely under good handling. ZENTSOV STREET saved ground chasing the winner throughout and finished willingly along the rail. SURPRIZED stalked the pace along the inside, awaited room on the second turn, came out past the sixteenth pole and was edged for second. YOUGOTTAWANNA was in a good position stalking the pace between horses then outside a rival leaving the second turn, came out some in the stretch, steadied slightly when a bit crowded in deep stretch and was outfinished. HANDYMAN BILL pulled his way along to stalk the pace outside a rival, bid outside the winner on the backstretch, continued to track that one outside a foe on the second turn, steadied then clipped heels in late stretch and lacked the needed response. THUNDERMANN (AUS) four wide early, stalked three deep to the stretch, dropped back in the drive and weakened. Following a stewards' inquiry, SURPRIZED was disqualified and placed fifth for interference in late stretch. |

PERFECT MOON wide between horses early, stalked three deep on the backstretch and turn, continued off the rail into the stretch, rallied to the front outside foes under left handed urging a sixteenth out and proved best while drifting out some. CAPITANO had good early speed and pressed the pace four wide then outside a rival leaving the backstretch and on the turn, gained a slim advantage in midstretch, fought back between horses in deep stretch, could not match the winner late but held second. MILITARY MANDATE sped to the early lead between horses, angled in and dueled inside on the turn and in the stretch, also fought back along the rail in the drive and bested the others. RULER'S COURT between horses early, stalked outside on the backstretch and three deep on the turn, came out into the stretch and lacked the needed response. SIPHONIZER also between horses early, stalked a bit off the rail, split horses leaving the turn, came out into the stretch, angled back in some behind rivals in midstretch and also could not summon the necessary late kick. RUSH INTO HEAVEN dueled between horses on the backstretch, stalked a bit off the rail on the turn and weakened in the stretch. BADGETT'S MANDATE chased between foes on the backstretch and most of the turn, came four wide into the stretch and did not rally. LAST TIME IN TOWN settled off the rail without early speed, came out in the stretch and was not a threat. FEB ELEVEN off a bit slowly, saved ground off the pace, came out into the stretch and was not a factor. WILD BABE went up inside to prompt the pace, dropped back on the turn and gave way. |
