Race Summary

ROYAL IRISH was never too far back, shifted four wide nearing the quarter pole to offer his bid, gained command nearing the furlong pole, drew clear then held EVENING NEWS safe in the late stages. EVENING NEWS took back at the break and lagged to the turn, angled three wide into the stretch and closed steadily to the deep stretch then lost some of his punch. JANZIG AFFAIR tracked the dueling leaders from the rail, was boxed and waited for room on the turn, dropped to the rail for the drive, checked briefly inside SKOOKUM PASS at the furlong pole, loomed a bold factor but flattened out late. SKOOKUM PASS set a pressured pace from the inside, came off the rail slightly once in the stretch and weakened. SCREAMIN PASSION prompted the pace two wide to the stretch and came up empty. NORTH TIDE had no speed. MR. YATOOMA was permitted to settle early then failed to respond on the turn while racing just off the rail.
