Propace4 Operating Instructions
Make a folder on your C: drive
(Local Disk C:) named TSNPP as this is
where you will save the Exotic Results (xrd) files. (If you don't
know how to make a folder see the instructions below.)
Making Folders: Click on the My Computer icon on you desk top. Then
click on Make a new folder (upper left). A new folder will appear at
the bottom of your screen. Type TSNPP in the little new folder window
and hit enter. Now make another folder and call it XRD. You're done
with that so you can shut it down by clicking on the X upper right.
Now Click Here
to get a copy of pkunzip.exe and save it in the C:\TSNPP folder.
Now turn Propace on and follow below:
Edit Preferences File Window Click on the Edit link at the top left, then click on Edit prefs Text File. A new window opens on the right with five smaller windows. In the 1st window type C:\TSNcust\data or wherever you store your unzipped race files. I suggest you use the C:\TSNcust\data folder to store the unzipped files if you're using the TSN files. (Substitute BRIS for TSN is you use BRIS files) The 2nd window must be the extension on your unzipped race files such as EG for TSN files, (DRF for BRIS single file DRF files, etc.) You can also use Track Master files which should have a DRF extension. An extension is the 2 or 3 letters after the period (dot) in the file name such as aqu0909.eg or agu0909.drf. The 3rd window must be the link to the unzipped xrd result files C:\xrd. These are the Exotic Results files from TSN or BRIS if you want to buy them. They only cost 25 cents each and are useful in making models from old race files. (ProPace does not yet perform this function) You can unzip the xrd files in the XRD folder either with Winzip or you can get a copy of Pkunzip.exe from the ProPace download page. If you get Pkunzip.exe from the web site SAVE it in the C:\tsnpp folder, then run the x bat (explained later) file to unzip and place the files where ProPace can find them. The 4th window must be xrd. The 5th window should be PTS. This is the default setting for the Contender Report. If you want to make the Projected Speed the Default Report then change this window to read SPD. You can also look at any report by clicking on the top of the column you wish to sort on or using the Hot Keys (described later). We recommend you leave the default report setting as PTS as this is the best report to use overall. Using the (FREE) TSNcust PP Gen Software If using BRIS files instead of TSN files, substitute BRIS for TSN in the setups. The FREE PP software will unzip the race files for you to use in ProPace. It is necessary that you use save your downloaded race files in the C:\TSNcust\data folder. There are TSN test files stored here for the 2003 files, and here for the 2004 files, and here for the 2005 files. To read the charts just click on them. To use these files save the race files to the C:\tsncust\data (or the BRIS version) and xrd files to the c:\xrd folder. Then you write a simple batch file to unzip the xrd files and use them in ProPace for making models or just checking out the free 30 trial of ProPace. [directions below] Example for using the TSN files. Set the path as C:\tsncust\data so that when you download the zipped race files and put them into the C:\tsncust\data folder and when you turn the PP software on you just click on the file folder and chose the race file you want and the file is unzipped and you can then go to ProPace and viola' the file is there. To make a batch file to unzip the XRD files do the following: Click the Start button, then go up and click on Command Prompt. Now you have a small black window with the text C:\documents and setting\your name Type edit x.bat and hit enter. Now you get a blue window. Type the following and don't forget the spaces: cd\ [and hit enter.] Your batch file should now look like this:
cd\ Now click on File, then Exit, then Yes to save the batch file. Now when you download race files they go in the C:\tsncust\data folder and any XRD files you download go in the C:\tsnpp folder. Now when you have completed your download of XRD files just click on Start, then Command Prompt, type X and hit enter. You computer will unzip the XRD files and put them where Propace will find them and put them on the races when you run Propace. If you have any problems email or call me and I will get back to you ASAP. |
